Melody & Muse - September 2025 🎶
Brad Arthur - Artist, Producer, Creator
Hey friends, Brad Arthur here.
Welcome to the September edition of Melody & Muse.
This month has been about trusting the process, leaning into change, and letting music guide me forward. From long nights in the studio and the release of my new song Violet Diamond, to fresh inspiration from films, quotes, and fellow artists, I’ve been reminded of the importance of staying present, kind, and authentic in the pursuit of creativity.
I’ve gathered songs, words, and videos that have fueled me through this season, and I hope they spark something for you too.
I've really been enjoying PRESIDENT recently. Their overall sound in this track is so compelling and immediately gets stuck in your head whilst also feeling rich and melodically skillful. The visuals and general brand approach are awesome too. They have just released their first EP ' King Of Terrors' and it's well worth a listen. See if you recognise the voice of the anonymous lead singer.
This song feels like a warm hug that speaks so genuinely to the weaving, unpredictable and evolving nature of life. Let it console you and lift you up by making the heaviest emotions you have feel seen.
If you haven't watched 'KPop Demon Hunters' yet you're missing out. I love how accessible it is to all ages while the music is masterfully written, performed and produced in a sincere way. 'Free' felt like such a compelling song in the movie and a pivotal part for both of the main characters. It's not just your average RnB/Pop Ballad, it's a really meaningful message embedded within a rich Pop sound.
“Torment in the dark was the danger I feared, and it did not deter me. But I would not have come, had I known the danger of light and joy…”
I have been diving deeper into The Lord of the Rings after rewatching the extended editions and exploring the behind the scenes. This quote from Gimli really struck me. At first it may sound negative but it speaks to the power of beauty, light and joy. We often fear the darkness and what despair holds, yet those struggles can leave us grateful for how they shaped us. Light and joy are different. They can heal, but they also open us up to loss. To love, to see something beautiful, to feel true fellowship is to accept vulnerability.
Gimli shows us that light and joy are not weaknesses but the forces that make struggle worth enduring. They are stronger than darkness because they ask us to open ourselves fully, not only to pain but to life itself. We become so used to surviving difficulty that we forget how to surrender to joy. His awe is Tolkien’s reminder that to truly live we must embrace both the risk and the gift of joy, for only then are we healed, changed and made whole.
Author and poet Maya Ange
“My wish for you is that you continue. Continue to be who you are, to astonish a mean world with your acts of kindness. The effect you have on others’ lives is the highest expression of your own."
Her words remind us that the real victory in life is not in achievements or recognition but in the quiet, steady way we keep showing up for ourselves and for others. To astonish a harsh world with kindness is to choose light over bitterness, even when things are heavy. This is hard, sometimes near impossible but so worth doing. Continuing is not about rushing to the finish line, it's just staying present with each step and letting time shape us. When we persist with authenticity and compassion, we embody the highest expression of ourselves. Keep going.

“As long as the dice is still rolling you will get your 6, for now we clap for others and show love”
This quote speaks to patience and humility. Life is always moving, the dice is still rolling, and our time will come if we keep going. For now, we can celebrate others, give love, and trust that our own moment will arrive. Winning is sweet, but there is a deeper victory in how we carry ourselves through the struggle, choosing kindness and perseverance when it would be easier to give up. That quiet defiance is its own form of greatness. I've been tested by those moments many times and I'm sure I will continue to be. It never feels any easier when things are heavy and don't seem to be going your way but trusting myself, accepting my limitations and taking my time allows me to persevere one step at a time. Keep going.
The top comments on this video do it justice very well: ''This is the auditory equivalent of watching the dvd screensaver and cheering when it hits the corner.''
This song is something special. Haley's live rendition of it is really wonderful. It's worth listening to both the original and this one. They both have their own magic. Sometimes a song comes through and feels like you've heard it before. I get the same feeling when I write a new song, it sometimes feel like I've already it written it before. I had that feeling very strongly when 'Pretty Lies' came to me. There is a cool part at the end of the video after the song finishes that made me smile too. When you see it you will know which part I mean.
This one felt really great to listen to. It really rings true to me that creating and sharing a piece of you is so important. I love Chad's emphasis on growing as a person through your music, developing skills and commitment to a craft. There is great power and meaning in dedicating yourself to a process with no shortcuts and no guarantee of outcome, just a gift to yourself that you honour. In the world of AI, the ones who lean into their uniqueness and authentic style will stand out too. Though the endeavour is something you commit to for the reward of the creative act itself, the chances are what you make when you are being honest and free with your creative will be what connects with others most too and inspire them to do the same.
Question of The Month ⁉️
Life is always progressing to the next stage. As you enter a new season, habits that previously served you well may need to be refreshed or adjusted. Which one of your current habits have you outgrown and is in need of a change?
An enchanted forest river in the heart of Scotland
The Autumn now unravels the Summer. I feel reflective of how many great things the Summer brought and though wishing it would never end, all things do eventually. I'm now preparing myself for all that is to come through the season of Orange, Gold and Brown, or in Scotland's case, grey precipitation. Just kidding, It doesn't rain forever in Autumn here, only most of it. That does make for some very moody weather to inspire creativity in the refuge of the music studio. Autumn is a time for change. Embrace it and let it bring the best out of you. I'm trying to remind myself to take care of my mind and body whilst I work hard on creative projects. I often struggle with that as I put a lot of pressure on myself to push my limits. I've been leaning into the side of me that knows how to work within my limits and say no to some things so that the ones I say yes to can be fully embraced. That also means taking time to just be. To take in the world around me and let the beauty of nature captivate me.
I just released some new music and it feels really good to be putting my own work out into the world again after a few months of working hard on my own projects and collabs with other artist.Creating 'Violet Diamond' was a very intense experience in all the right ways. it felt like and evolution of my creativity in some ways and guided a pivot in my creative direction that I'm excited to unfold over time with you.
Having you all participate in the card draw to see which song would be chosen was a really fun experience too. Make sure you follow me over on Instagram so you don't miss the next draw. I can't wait to share more music with you.
I hope you enjoyed this month's newsletter and I'm excited to see what next month will bring. I hope all your musical endeavours hare going well and continue to bring you success and joy.
