Melody & Muse - October 2025 🎃

Hey friends, Brad Arthur here.

Welcome to the October edition of Melody & Muse. Happy Halloween!!

This month has felt like stepping into a new season, one of change, transformation, and rediscovery. Nyx is finally out in the world, and it feels like the embodiment of that shift. Dark, ethereal, and full of renewal. Watching how it’s connected with so many of you through the edits, makeup looks, and the energy you’ve brought to it has been incredible.

As the nights grow longer and the world shifts, I’ve been leaning into reflection. Trusting that change doesn’t always need to make sense to be meaningful. Just like the leaves fall so new life can grow, sometimes we have to let go of old versions of ourselves to make room for what’s next and for the person we need to be for our creativity to flourish.

I’ve gathered the music, visuals, and words that have inspired me through this transition things that capture that feeling of shedding, evolving, and leaning into the process of blooming.
Let’s step into the next chapter together. 🌒

My Favourite Songs This Month 🎶

Joji is back. If you don't know the story of this man and his creative madness/genius then I invite you to dive into his world. Few artists balance darkness and soul like he does, every release feels raw, haunting, and beautifully unhinged in the best way.

Amazing! I love how this song weaves through a beautiful river of expression. It evolves in so many ways and feels so free and unbound to genre and style.

My Favourite Quotes 💬

Unknown

“Don't ask for permission to fly, the wings are yours and the sky belongs to no-one”

Do the thing, take the leap, find your wings on the way and do it because flying is magical.

Unknown

Sometimes it takes years and years to get that one year that changes your life"

Time and effort work in mysterious ways. I often find that this year's fruits are from last years planting, or even two or three years ago. I find it powerful to separate the size of your efforts from the size of the immediate results. Sometimes the most worthwhile things take years of input with no immediate return but a final result that is deeply fulfilling, and the least worthwhile things take little input for immediate returns that are fleeting. I always say that some songs feel like they were written really quickly but really it took your whole life to build to the moment that you were able to write that song 'quickly'. I'm forever learning to trust time and let it work it's magic while I continue to show up in however best way I can.

Maya Angelou

We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”

Growth can look graceful or painful and ugly while it’s happening. The cocoon stage, the confusion, the shedding, the stillness, is just as sacred as the wings that come after. Trust your becoming, in your own time. It’s all part of the beauty of right now and of the future you’re building.

My Favourite Videos 📽

Aries - ANESTHESIA(Live)

video preview

I love this simple, clean format from Aries for this live rendition, it's such a raw and organic feel for an awesome, emotive song. The location is unreal and the aesthetic is immaculate.

ROSALÍA - Berghain (Official Video) feat. Björk & Yves Tumor

Woahhh, this is completely unexpected from Rosalia. What an awesome switch from her usual Reggaeton and spanish dance vibe. The video is gorgeous and haunting. I can't wait to see where she evolves to for the upcoming album project.

Charlotte Cardin - Tant pis pour elle [Official Music Video]

What a cool way to bring this song to life. I love the euphoric melancholic dance vibe here and the idea of blending a live action music video into an anime style at the end of the video to fully tell the story.

Question of The Month ⁉️

What part of your identity have you been holding onto out of comfort, even though it no longer represents who you are becoming?

Halloween is a magic opportunity to embody your darker side, to put on a costume or makeup, to shed your old skin, to let the leaves on your tree turn gold and red the fall to the floor of the past while you transform. It's a chance to give yourself permission to be someone or something new. I'm always in a process of changing, growing, letting go and discovering more about myself. It can be magical, it can be heavy and challenging but in all parts there is beauty and I hope my endeavours to share that process through my music may invite you to lean into that process in your life too. I’ve come to realise that the best songs don’t come from us they come through us. To create something real, you have to grow into the person your art needs you to be. I find this fascinating, agonising and delightful all at once. When you let life shape you, when you open space for truth, pain, and wonder to move through you, the music starts to write itself. It can be wonderful and it can be the hardest thing you'll do but in any part of the journey its meaningful. That’s where the magic really happens.

Happy Halloween everyone. 🖤

What's going on in my world?

'Nyx' is yours now!

video preview

Nyx is out now and this one has been taking on a life of its own already. Tokyo Project and I poured at least 100 hours each into crafting this song and we are delighted with the way it turned out.

I have been running an anime edit contest and a makeup/costume contest for the song over on TikTok with a $300 prize for the best edit and best costume look. Seeing all the entries for both contests so far over on TikTok has been mind blowing. So many creative, talented people making incredible looks and video edits. I've extended the deadline to Nov 17th so if you're feeling creative feel free to jump on it. Go check out what everyone else has been creating and show them some love too. Thank you all for listening and creating. I'm feeling incredibly blessed. I hope you've had a magic Halloween and have a wonderful November ahead.

I hope you enjoyed this month's newsletter and I'm excited to see what next month will bring. I hope all your musical endeavours hare going well and continue to bring you success and joy.

Keep creating, learning and growing. Much love!
